I am a veterinary surgeon with experience across primary clinical practice and veterinary public health.
Standing for election to RCVS Council, I aim to contribute a practical, thoughtful perspective and to support evidence-led regulation grounded in the realities of modern veterinary practice.
· To help ensure that the diversity of career paths and perspectives within the veterinary profession is reflected in its governing bodies.· To support regulation that remains resilient, trusted, and informed by evidence and meaningful engagement with veterinary professionals.· To contribute constructively to discussions on reviewing and modernising the Veterinary Surgeons Act, ensuring regulations reflect contemporary practice and the One Health approach.· To represent the perspectives of early- and mid-career veterinary surgeons at Council level, recognising both the opportunities and pressures of modern practice.
If elected, my focus would include:A sustainable veterinary workforce
Championing diversity of roles, careers, and professional pathways.Contextualised care and regulation
Recognising professional expertise and context while maintaining public trust and animal welfare.Evidence-based decision-making
Using data, consultation, and clear communication to inform decisions.Education and responsible innovation
